The Inspired By Stage| captures classic sounds that shaped pop culture and engaged a generation, also presenting the people that they inspired. Split into different sessions over the weekend, the stage presents the sounds that inspired a nation.

Renowned 1970s English supergroup, Faces, will perform their first live show since 1985 when they take to the stage to headline Friday night with their brand new lineup featuring orignal Faces members Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan, who will be joined for this exclusive performance by Sex Pistols', Glen Matlock and lifelong Faces' fan Mick Hucknall on vocal duties.

Friday’s afternoon bill celebrates the Punk Reggae Party of 1977. Original Roxy Club DJ and latter day filmmaker Don Letts DJs between Roxy headliners The Buzzcocks and one of the UK’s biggest roots rock outfits, the mighty Aswad.

The evening session introduces The Heritage Orchestra who will be on site all weekend performing with a variety of acts. Here they will be the lush overture for The Bees and Sandie Shaw’s ‘Reclaim the Song’ which will feature a procession of special guest vocalists including Paloma Faith and Sophie Ellis Bextor singing songs originally sung by men.

Saturday’s afternoon set revisits the Glam Rock excess of the 70s! Alvin Stardust and the legendary Roy Wood waft us back to a time when platforms and glitter were de rigour and that was just the men.

Saturday evening’s TGI Saturday goes squarely dance floor-approved. A slave to the rhythm, with an exclusive performance by legendary Motown outfit Martha & The Vandellas, the sweet new pop of Noisettes and special guest Al McKay presents Earth Wind & Fire Experience featuring Al McKay where every song is an anthem of Saturday night fever.

Sunday’s afternoon session takes the concept of Guilty Pleasures to new extremes. Anchored by GP’s Sean Rowley, the afternoon will feature an all star covers set with guest vocalists backed by The Feeling, as well as the legendary Kid Creole & The Coconuts.

Futurama closes Sunday evening with a very special guest performance from Peter Hook complete with Orchestra who will perform Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures, fireworks, lasers and corks popping. Before that the robot dancing erupts with sets from contemporary electronic outfits and new electronic 23-piece choir Gaggle, bookending the godfathers of the genre, Heaven 17.

Elsewhere at this eclectic event, British music culture is celebrated with a decade-by-decade examination of the best-defined scenes that have blossomed in the UK.

The Tanqueray Torch| celebrates the 40s with big band swing from Ray Gelato, The John Miller Orchestra and Mike Sanchez and His Band, plus burlesque performance, dance classes and comedy sessions in a beautiful setting rife with glitter balls, dancers in bird cages and some swinging sounds.

In The Let It Rock| area, there’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll from the female Elvis, Ms Wanda Jackson, alongside The Damned, Matchbox, The Polecats, Rezillos, Black Elvis, The Puppini Sisters and The Lonnie Donegan Band featuring Pete Donegan. While late at night Gaz’s Rock’n Blues club and other be-quiffed DJs play to the wee small hours.

Summer pop and easy listening fill the multi-tented Leisure Dome|, with lounge favourites The Swingle Singers in residence along with Pretty Things performing SF Sorrow, The Mike Flowers Pops, John Shuttleworth, Swing Out Sister, legendary composer Tony Hatch, The Karminsky Experience and themed club nights with Club Indigo. In between there’s action painting to Ken Nordine’s ‘Colors’, vintage organ thrills and general groovy, psychedelic and tiki-flavoured fun.

At the outdoor Soul Casino| stage, there’s a soul and reggae weekender set to happen. Friday is reggae with the legendary Wailers and The Beat joined by MC Jah Thomas, The Trojan Sound System and Pama International, while the rest of the weekend boasts sets by soul legend LeRoy Hutson, The Third Degree and Geno Washington And The Ram Jam Band, alongside new soul sensation Rox and a host of DJs from Craig Charles to Deep Funk.

Inside at the Soul Casino| 2, there’s classic DJ sets, from northern to funk and beyond with David Holmes, Norman Jay and Chris Hill among many others.

And, then there’s the ultimate 80s Warehouse| party experience celebrating the greatest dance floor sounds. Over the weekend Norman Jay, Danny Rampling, Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B, The Hacienda’s Graeme Park, Andrew Weatherall, Greg Wilson, Ashley Beedle, Optimo and lots more will be taking to the decks in this scrapheap netherworld.

And next door, continuing the theme of vintage dance music that’s gripped the country, an authentic Roller Disco| will feature sets from Joey Negro, Horse Meat Disco, Disco Bloodbath and Low Life.

The LMS ( Ronnie Lane Mobile Studio)

LMS1

The LMS mobile recording studio is the most successful studio in the UK, after Abbey Road – How did that happen!

The LMS began its life in 1972, when Ronnie Lane, bass player, songwriter
and singer with The Small Faces and The Faces imported a 1968 Airstream
Trailer from the USA.
Right out of the box the LMS was a massive success, and from the very first year was responsible for some of the most successful and influential recordings
in rock music’s history. The sound of the “room” was legendary. With slightly
concave shoulders running through the whole length and across the width of
the vehicle, the bass response, devoid
of obligatory standing waves, was (& still is) stupendous, and many eminent
producers considered it the flattest & most accurate control room in the
world. Very few mobile studios have ever been the environment of choice
for major album mixing – except the LMS.

So, it’s no co-incidence that the greatest drum sounds of all time…
The classic, massive, ambient Zeppelin & Bonham sound.

Inside-1

The purest interpretation of Moonie’s explosive, clattering Premier sound for The Who.

And the loose, rolling energy of The Faces, driven by Kenny’s
huge, thundering, Ludwigs…

Were all captured and preserved in the LMS.

After that first year the floodgates opened and the catalogue of classic
recordings & legendary producers that were created inside the LMS’s pastel blue, shagpile-lined, aluminium sausage-shell is unmatched anywhere
in rock & roll. The list is too long to recreate, but just to whet your appetite,
and in no particular order…..…..

Led Zeppelin – “Physical Graffiti”
The Who – “Quadrophenia”
Bad Company – “Bad Company”
Eric Clapton – “Rainbow Concert”
The Faces – “Ooh La La”
The Stones – “Black & Blue”
Mott The Hoople – “Mott”
The Who - “The Who by Numbers” &…
Ronnie Lane – “Slim Chance” &
“Rough Mix” with Pete Townsend

Other cast members include: Bob Marley, Jack Bruce, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Van Morrison, The Damned, Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder, John Lee
Hooker, Keith & Ronnie, B.B. King, Dave Edmunds, Jeff Beck and…
Total sales of recordings from the LMS – around 500 million - Yes – that’s million!

And now the LMS is back, resplendent in classic ‘70’s orange, sand & mauve,
and re-commissioned with a classic, analogue, Cadac console and loads
of other rare, precious and funky old stuff. The really great records
didn’t just make themselves. And the LMS made lots of them. It’s the
best mobile room out there. Period.
And in this digital-storage day ands age, maybe the best room out there
bar none. So, ladies and gentlemen, the LMS will be available to make
records that change the world in a location near you any day now…….
